The Cottage

Rustic charm

The farmhouse of the Cour Cormont is aligned east-west and overlooks the pond. The beautiful warm ochre-coloured earth used in the walls was dug out of this very pond nearly two hundred years ago. A venerable willow that has weathered the ravages of time continues to provide shade for frogs. The farmhouse stands in the middle of the site, surrounded by hedges and sheltered by tall trees. North-west of it is a grassy orchard planted with old Norman varieties of eating apples, which we use to make the apple jelly served at breakfast. We use no chemical sprays on our apple-trees.

The house offers three separate sets of accommodation, each with its own entrance. The two apartments with cooking facilities can be connected from the inside to house a single group of up to eight guests.

The south gable gîte has large bay windows overlooking the garden on the gable and facades and a private terrace. The accommodation consists of a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting room downstairs and a double bedroom and bathroom upstairs.

The upstairs bedroom (containing one double and one single bed) has its own bathroom and toilet, plus a generously-sized sitting room and a small kitchen on the ground floor, making up a total of over fifty square metres of accommodation. The entrance is on the east side, but there is a back door onto the lawn on the west side.
The entrance to the downstairs flat is via a porch with a thatched roof. The bedroom (containing one double and one single bed), bathroom, toilet and kitchen have views of the old willow, the orchard, and the lawn. There is direct access to the garden.
